Project Description

KMB Design Group served as Electrical Engineer of Record for this utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System project located in Fort Stockton, Texas. The 91 MW / 91 MWh facility comprises 38 BESS containers and 39 Nidec power conversion systems, with KMB delivering a comprehensive drawing & studies package covering the full electrical design scope. Our work encompassed AC and DC one-line diagrams, MV feeder routing and trenching plans, three-line diagrams, transformer and inverter skid details, BESS equipment pad layouts, site grounding design, auxiliary power and conduit plans, fire alarm conduit routing, communications and fiber routing, camera and lighting systems, warning label documentation, and ETAP short circuit, coordination, grounding, and arc flash studies – all stamped and sealed by a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer.

This project reflects KMB’s ability to execute large-scale BESS electrical design from IFC through as-built, coordinating across multiple disciplines and delivering complete, permit-ready documentation packages. With licensure in all 50 states, KMB supports EPC contractors and system owners at every stage of utility-scale energy storage development.
