Lightbridge Academy’s new Katy, Texas location required a full suite of MEP engineering services to support an early-education facility with safe and reliable building systems.

KMB’s engineering team coordinated closely with architects and contractors to integrate systems seamlessly into the building layout, ensuring proper ventilation, lighting performance, and code compliance throughout classrooms, common areas, and support spaces. The result is a well-engineered environment that supports staff, students, and daily operations with dependable, high-quality building infrastructure.

Project Sector

The project fell under the educational sector, which meant meeting tight safety requirements.

Project Type

Lightbridge Academy was a new construction project on a recently cleared site.

Services Provided for the Project

The construction documents KMB produced for this project were to be used as Lightbridge Academy’s prototypical drawings moving forward for all future projects.

All new plumbing services, equipment and distribution were included in the project planning and construction process.

New sprinkler service and distribution systems were laid out via performance specification drawings, for bidding purposes only.

While this project required new HVAC equipment and distribution systems, KMB guided the client in improving existing HVAC systems in their other buildings.

KMB reviewed and approved contractor equipment, product submittal packets, and contractor shop drawings. Calls and meetings with authority having jurisdictions were attended.

New electric service and power for all equipment was included, along with convenience outlets and appliances. New circuiting and controls for the new interior lighting layout were needed.

New fire alarm system and devices were imperative to the building’s safety features and were planned extensively.
